Elgin Marbles: Transport secretary denies Sunak 'snubbed' Greek PM

Transport Secretary Mark Harper has dismissed the idea that Rishi Sunak "snubbed" the Greek prime minister by cancelling a meeting with him over a dispute about the future of the Elgin Marbles.

"The prime minister wasn't able to meet the Greek prime minister. He was offered a meeting with the deputy prime minister, which proved not to be possible for him to take up," he said.

Mr Harper said he wouldn't characterise the situation as a snubbing.

He was speaking to Kay Burley before boarding the first large transatlantic flight to fly on pure sustainable aviation fuel, a feat he described as a "real step forward for the UK".
