The government of El Salvador says it will step up its campaign against criminal gangs after three police officers were killed.
More than 40,000 people have been arrested in recent months as part of a crackdown and the government just extended the state of emergency in the Latin American country.
But human rights groups accuse authorities of arresting some people without a valid reason.
