Education Secretary Gillian Keegan says "contested" views on gender should not be taught as "fact" in schools.

The Department for Education (DfE) will publish draft guidance on relationships, sex and health education (RSHE) on Thursday.

Teachers in English schools will not be allowed to teach children that they can change their gender identity, and age limits are also set to be imposed for the first time on when children can be taught sex education.

Ms Keegan said "the protected characteristic of gender reassignment" and being transgender should be taught and is "something adults can do" - but she said it is "different from gender ideology" and the "madness" of the "spectrum of gender" that "could change daily".

"You can't say this is something that people believe and people believe is a fact when it's not," she said.

Teaching unions say the review was "politically motivated".
