Ecuadorians are going to the polls Sunday in a general election held under the shadow of a severe economic, political and sanitary crisis.
Sixteen presidential candidates are on the ballot, but the main race is between a former banker and economist.
Former left-wing president Rafael Correa, who faces an arrest order if he returns to Ecuador, is still very popular and has thrown his support behind Andres Arauz, a former planning minister whom many regard as Correa’s puppet.
