A socialist economist - Andres Arauz, is claiming victory in Ecuador's first round of presidential elections as the country faces a deep economic crisis.
But preliminary results suggest he is likely to face a runoff in April.
Arauz is an ally of former President Rafael Correa, who fled the country after facing corrution charges.
