"Striking writers unleashed a torrent of fury against actress Drew Barrymore this week as she restarted her daytime talk show — which although not technically part of the Hollywood strike, relies on writers who are.

Barrymore, who previously declined to host an MTV award show to support the strike, announced Sunday that she will be bringing back “The Drew Barrymore Show” amid the Hollywood writers and actors strike, prompting protests and picketing from the Writers Guild of America outside her New York taping Monday and Tuesday. For more than four months, actors and performers have shown tremendous support for the writers strike, and Barrymore’s move raises questions about whether that support is beginning to crack."
