Insp. Paul Krawczyk of the Toronto Police Service's Integrated Gun and Gang Task Force provided an update on Tuesday morning, related to a reported drive-by shooting outside the home of world-renowned rapper, Drake.

A security guard employed by Drake suffering a gunshot wound was taken to hospital in serious condition, with "life-threatening" injuries, according to a release from Toronto Police — which did not confirm if the 'Hotline Bling' hitmaker was home at the time of the incident.

"I can tell you that we are in contact with his team and they are co-operating," Krawczyk said.

Despite having "collected video evidence which captures the incident," Krawczyk refrained from describing the suspect or vehicle, adding that the footage could not be shared at the time due to "video quality issues."

The shooting comes days after Drake and acclaimed rapper Kendrick Lamar have exchanged various malicious "diss tracks" aimed at one another and escalated a longstanding "beef." Whether the events are related, however, is unknown.

Addressing the beef, Krawczyk said, "I am aware of what you're talking about. But it is so early in the investigation that we don't have a motive at this time. And so I cannot comment further on that."
