A fire swept through an overcrowded jail near the Indonesian capital, killing at least 41 inmates, including two foreign nationals, and injuring at least 70 others.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the blaze, which broke out while inmates were sleeping.
Human rights activists have said Indonesia’s criminal justice system, including significantly overcrowded prisons, needs urgent reform.
