इराक में कुछ उसी तरह के हालात बनते जा रहे हैं जैसे कुछ हफ्ते पहले श्रीलंका में बन गए थे. इराक के शिया धर्मगुरु मुक्तदा अल सदर ने जब राजनीति छोड़ने का ऐलान किया तो उनके समर्थकों ने बगदाद में बवाल मचा दिया. प्रदर्शनकारियों ने राष्ट्रपति भवन पर कब्जा कर लिया. अल सदर के समर्थकों और सुरक्षा बलों के बीच कई जगह टकराव हुआ.
