Thousands have been evacuated from their homes by authorities in France and Spain. More than 1,200 firefighters are deployed in Gironde, a prefecture in Bordeaux, France. Thousands of hectares have burned in Portugal. Britain is bracing for its highest temperatures on record as a heat wave soars across Europe. Authorities are warning Britons to look out for others and to stay indoors.
