The United States Senate has voted to approve a deal to suspend the country's borrowing limit - averting a default on the national debt.
After weeks of negotiations, the bipartisan bill passed by 63 votes to 36.
The $31.4 trillion debt ceiling will now be lifted once President Joe Biden signs the legislation into law.

Al Jazeera’s Shihab Rattansi reports from Washington DC, US.
