Bestselling author Daniel Kalla appeared on "The Morning Show," where he chatted about delving into the dark world of diet culture with his new thriller,"Fit to Die." The book follows an LA detective and toxicologist based in Vancouver, B.C., investigating a growing number of overdoses linked to a toxic diet pill, including a social media influencer who dies in a Vancouver hotel.

Kalla masterfully intertwines his roles as an ER physician and acclaimed writer to create a searing critique of a culture that promotes toxic diet pills and body shaming.

"Everybody wants the quick fix, you know. It's more important to be comfortable in your own skin than what you weigh, but that's a tough message to get across to people," Kalla tells our hosts Jeff McArthur and Carolyn MacKenzie.

Kalla also shares his concerns about Ozempic and other weight loss drugs, which he says can be "a great medicine for the right person" but he fears is being "overused and abused."
