D-Day anniversary: Biden compares war to Ukraine conflict

US President Joe Biden told D-Day veterans in Normandy that the dark forces the Allies fought against in the Second World War "never fade".

Drawing a comparison with Russia's war against Ukraine, Mr Biden said the US would not turn its back on Kyiv and allow Russia to threaten other European countries.

World leaders joined royalty and veterans marking the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings.
