In July last year, hundreds of people were detained by Cuban authorities when people took to the streets to demand better economic conditions and more freedoms.
Last month, trials began for those accused of serious crimes and many could now face years in jail.
Human rights groups say the government is trying to send a clear message to the demonstrators.
