On Friday, Russian President Vladimir Putin welcomed military personnel who had just returned from fighting in Ukraine to the Kremlin.
Putin mentioned that two of the fighters' comrades, who were prisoners that had volunteered, were killed in Ukraine.
“They made (mistakes) once. But they gave their lives for the motherland. They (were) redeemed completely," Putin said.
He said the funeral of one of these individuals would take place on Friday. He suggested taking a moment of silence in their honor before starting the conversation.
