On Saturday, it was reported by ARY News that Lahore's Deputy Inspector General (DIG), Shariq Jamal, was discovered deceased at his residence in the DHA area.

The police found DIG Shariq Jamal Khan's body in a private flat 104/A, and subsequently transferred it to National Hospital. Later, it was moved to Jinnah Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

In response to the untimely demise, authorities have initiated an immediate inquiry to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Upon receiving the news, a team of police officers hurried to the hospital to personally oversee the investigation.

It is reported that the late DIG lived in phase-4, which is under the jurisdiction of Defence-A police station, while the flat falls under Nishtar police station's jurisdiction.

A case has been registered based on the complaint filed by the deceased DIG's wife.

At the time of his passing, the DIG was serving as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) and had previously held positions as DIG traffic and DIG railways.

The deceased had recently returned home after completing a departmental course, which was a prerequisite for his promotion to Grade-21.
