देश में पिछले 24 घंटों में कोरोना वायरस के 6 हजार 822 नए केस सामने आए हैं. वहीं, 220 लोगों की मौत हो गई. देश में अबतक कोरोना के ओमिक्रोन वेरिएंट के 23 मामले सामने आ चुके हैं. देश में अब एक्टिव मामलों की संख्या 95 हजार 14 है. वहीं, इस महामारी से जान गंवाने वालों की संख्या बढ़कर 4 लाख 73 हजार 757 हो गई है. आंकड़ों के मुताबिक, कल 10 हजार 4 रिकवरी हुईं, जिसके बाद अभी तक 3 करोड़ 40 लाख 79 हजार 612 लोग संक्रमण मुक्त हो चुके हैं.

कर्नाटक के बेंगलुरु में कोरोना वायरस के नए वेरिएंट 'ओमिक्रोन' को शिकस्त दे चुका एक डॉक्टर फिर से कोविड-19 से पीड़ित पाया गया है. यह डॉक्टर भारत में 'ओमिक्रोन' से संक्रमित मिले पहले दो लोगों में से एक है. इस बीच, पुलिस ने उस दक्षिण अफ्रीकी नागरिक के खिलाफ मामला दर्ज किया है जो अधिकारियों को सूचना दिए बिना देश से बाहर चला गया है. गुजराती मूल का दक्षिण अफ्रीकी शख्स आइसोलेशन में था और वह सूचना दिए बिना दुबई के लिए रवाना हो गया. भारत में अब तक ओमिक्रोन वेरिएंट के 23 केस मिल चुके हैं.

बृहत बेंगलुरु महानगरपालिका के एक अधिकारी ने कहा, 'यह सच है कि ओमिक्रोन वेरिएंट से संक्रमित मिला डॉक्टर फिर से कोरोना वायरस से संक्रमित हो गया है.' अधिकारी ने नाम उजागर न करने की शर्त पर बताया कि संबंधित डॉक्टर को आइसोलेशन में रखा गया है और उसे हल्के लक्षण हैं. इस बीच, पुलिस ने उस दक्षिण अफ्रीकी नागरिक के खिलाफ मामला दर्ज किया है जो आइसोलेशन के नियमों का उल्लंघन कर और अधिकारियों को बिना सूचना दिए देश से बाहर चला गया है.
