Preparations are under way in the Iraqi city of Karbala to mark Ashoura, a Shia Muslim commemoration.
People have started heading to the city despite concerns about security and COVID-19. The city is still in crisis after the killing of its mayor last week, but security officials have said it was an individual crime, likely not linked to a larger plot.
Karbala is the second-most significant religious place for Shia Muslims after Mecca in Saudi Arabia.
Al Jazeera's Mahmoud Abdelwahed reports from Karbala.
