Covid Patients Reporting New Symptoms: AIIMS Director Dr Randeep Guleria

All India Institute Of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) chief Dr Randeep Guleria said Covid patients are reporting new symptoms like nausea, vomiting, fatigue and body ache. Dr Guleria clarified that an RT-PCR false negative is possible as the test is only 80 per cent sensitive. Currently, the RT-PCR can pick up mutant strains, if the test is done properly. However, Dr Guleria said if a patient has symptoms and tests negative, they should get a re-test in 24 hours and get blood tests and CT scan done to look for other markers. Those symptomatic but awaiting reports should start treatment, he said.
