India has begun lifting some Covid restrictions, despite struggling with a devastating second wave of the pandemic, as the number of new cases continues to fall.

However, a new infection linked to the Delta variant of the coronavirus is also raging through the country.

Mucormycosis, or black fungus, is spreading so quickly that the government has declared it an epidemic. Cases have also been reported as far afield as Uruguay and Egypt.
