South of the border, confirmed COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations are sky-rocketing across much of the U.S. In California, the number of people in hospital with COVID has more than doubled in just two weeks.

Hospitalizations of U.S. children under five with COVID-19 soared in recent weeks to their highest level since the pandemic began, according to government data released Friday on the only age group not yet eligible for the vaccine.

And as Jennifer Johnson explains, the burden being put on health-care workers is difficult to bare.
