COVID-19: Early evidence suggests Omicron variant more transmissible than Delta

New evidence suggests the Omicron variant may be more transmissible than the Delta variant, as Norway grapples with a sudden surge of COVID-19 cases.

The country's prime minister announced new measures after news that a Christmas party last week had been linked with a cluster of new infections in the capital.

One person at the gathering of about 120 guests had recently been in South Africa and was infected with the Omicron variant. The guests were all reportedly vaccinated.
