After spending nearly two years in jail in Qatar after being convicted in a drug-trafficking case, Mohammed Shareeq and Oniba Kausar, an Indian couple have been acquitted by the highest court in Qatar. The couple had gone on a honeymoon sponsored by their aunt, who was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau in anti-drugs case. The aunt allegedly convinced the couple to take a suitcase with them that she told them contained tobacco. In this case, the evidence provided by the couple's family and put together by the anti-drugs agency, the Narcotics Control Bureau, secured an uncommon acquittal, leading to their release and happy reunion in India.
