Coronavirus: Trump admin releases millions of vaccines held back for 2nd doses to speed up process

U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar on Tuesday announced the Trump administration was releasing millions of vaccines originally held to administer the second dose needed in order to speed up the nationwide vaccination process.

Azar said that the pace of vaccinations had risen to 700,000 shots per day and is expected to rise to one million within a week to 10 days and urged states to offer the vaccines released to all Americans over 65 years or with chronic health conditions.

CDC Director Dr. Robert Redfield said there were more vaccine available than being requested within the first group designated to receive vaccines and is strongly recommending the vaccination be expanded.
