A "major incident" has been declared in London, U.K. by its mayor over the COVID-19 crisis.

It's a move normally reserved for terror attacks or natural disasters, but with the rate of infection out of control, Sadiq Khan made the decision Friday.

In London's worst-hit boroughs, it's believed one in every 20 people have the virus.

As Redmond Shannon reports, hospital staff are barely coping as cases continue to surge, with more than 68,000 new cases and 1,300 deaths reported on Friday alone.
