Coronavirus: As COVID-19 variants spread, should you double-up on your face mask?

More cases of the new variants of COVID-19 are being detected around the world, including some here in Canada.

The first case of the South African variant was reported in Ontario on Monday, adding to those already in B.C. and Alberta. There have also been 69 people in Ontario confirmed to have the variant first detected in the U.K.

Just how widespread these are in the country, however, is still not clear. More genomic sequencing is being ramped up in order to determine those numbers, but what is certain is these spread much further and many experts say more needs to be done, including rethinking the masks we wear. Heather Yourex-West reports.
