The NHRC has taken suo moto cognizance of the incident when several bodies were found in the Ganges river flowing in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. The NHRC on Thursday sent a notice to the Chief Secretaries of Bihar and UP as well as the Central Water Power Ministry, asking them to submit a report of action within four weeks.
