A proposal was made in the CWC meeting to complete the election process in June. According to the schedule of the Election Committee, KC Venugopal proposed to hold the election of the President on 23 June. But Ashok Gehlot, citing the horrific situation of Corona, said that in such a situation it would not be right to hold elections at this time. Gehlot's talk was first supported by leaders like Ghulam Nabi Azad, Anand Sharma.
