Code Blue: Does Canada need a parallel private health-care system?

Vancouver surgeon Dr. Brian Day isn’t shy about sharing his opinion on Canadian health care – “Canada’s health system is performing badly,” he tells Global News.

The clinic owner has spent decades crusading for a parallel private system to ease the stress on our public hospitals and save lives.

“The promise was is that we would have a universal system where everyone was treated, but people are dying on wait lists,” Day says.

Just last month, a B.C. court justice agreed the two-tier ban in that province imposes suffering on patients stuck in the public queue.
