Climate: Onshore windfarm ban to loosen after Conservative MPs rebel

The government is to loosen what is seen as an effective ban on onshore wind after a campaign from rebel backbench Conservative MPs.

New installations of wind turbines on open land will be allowed, if local councils give them the go-ahead and views across the whole community are taken into account.
