Members of "Extinction Rebellion France" glued their hands to several sports cars on display at the Paris Motor Show on Oct. 21.

The climate activists said they were protesting the show's "absurd" promotion of individual car use in the midst of a global energy crisis and called for a ban on car advertisements and improved public transportation.

Footage showed some protesters seated on the floor with hands pressed to the vehicles, while others unfurled a large banner reading "auto show of destruction".

They also accused the automobile industry of trying to "greenwash" its image using electric and hybrid cars, which Extinction Rebellion argue also have negative implications for the environment.

The climate action group said that rising costs of fuel and electricity necessitated an improved public transportation system to help French people living in tenuous economic circumstances.
