Israeli President Isaac Herzog warned that Israel was at a turning point following a planned judicial overhaul by Israel's far-right coalition that has triggered mass protests in recent weeks over democratic freedom.
"A civil war is a red line. I won't let that happen, at any cost and in every way," the president said.
Israelis launched a day of protests on Thursday and took to the streets of Tel Aviv as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rejected a compromise deal for his government's planned judicial overhaul, which he claims will strengthen democracy and boost business.
