China has launched a rocket carrying the core module of its planned space station into orbit.
The Long March 5-B rocket took off from the Wenchang Space Launch Centre on the southern island of Hainan.
The module will provide electricity and propulsion to the space station and can accommodate three astronauts for up to six months.
