China has launched military drills around Taiwan saying the excercises are a stern warning to Taiwan's leaders.
The military's joint air and sea deployments are seen as a response to Taiwanese Vice President William Lai's latest visit to the United States. Taipei has condemend the drills saying it has the ability to ensure its national security. China claims self- governed Taiwan as part of its territory and says it has no right to conduct foreign relations.
