It was not long after US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi left Taiwan that Chinese jets flew across the island's air defence zone.

Although Ms Pelosi was not sent by President Biden it is the first visit by such a senior US legislator in 25 years, and it sparked fury in Beijing.

Tomorrow, they will begin military drills using live ammunition around Taiwan.
