The Chinese government is cracking down on the country’s entertainment industry.
The goal is to remove what it calls “negative” or “chaotic influences”.
Celebrity fan clubs, online gaming and LGBTQ groups have been targeted to promote socialist values.
State newspaper the Global Times says fan clubs could be used to “manipulate minds” and “split Chinese society”.
The moves are part of Beijing’s efforts to promote Chinese socialist values among young people and crack down on so-called negative influences in entertainment culture.
Beijing says the curbs are necessary to combat gaming and internet addiction, but critics say it will do the opposite.

Al Jazeera's Katrina Yu reports from Beijing, China.
