Chilean President Gabriel Boric has launched a search plan to find the remains of people who went missing during the military rule of Augusto Pinochet.

He made the announcement as the world commemorates the International Day of the Disappeared.

It's the first time the government vowed to find the forcibly disappeared since the coup in 1973.

Al Jazeera’s Latin America Editor Lucia Newman reports from Santiago, Chile.
