Conservative MP Rachel Thomas pressed Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) President and CEO Catherine Tait Tuesday regarding how bonus pay works for executives at the public broadcaster, amid plans to lay off about 600 employees.
Tait replied that the Crown corporation is facing a $125 million budget shortfall, which is prompting the layoff plans.
Tait told the House of Commons heritage committee she and the CBC executive team does not get “so-called bonuses” but isn’t ruling out “incentive pay” as the Crown corporation plans layoffs.
