Canmore company apologizes after transphobic email sent by "former team member" goes viral

Several businesses are boycotting Valbella’s Gourmet Foods in Canmore following a hate-filled email that was sent to a Canmore Pride organizer.

On Monday, Canmore Pride asked Valbella Gourmet Foods for donations to this year’s Pride event, like they had done successfully with other area businesses.

But the response they got on Tuesday morning was not what they expected.

“You could not pay me to sponsor anything to do with child grooming tranny’s [sic],” said an email from “Jeff von Rotz” where the author identified himself as the owner.

As Tracy Nagai reports, the popular food supplier and eatery has apologized and said it has fired the person behind the email.
