At least 4,000 people were evacuated as a wildfire burned out of control on the Spanish island of La Palma on Sunday, while Europe struggles to cope with a heatwave.
The fire in La Palma started in the early hours on Saturday in El Pinar de Puntagorda, a wooded area in the northern part of the island in the Canaries.
The fire has already burned more than 46,500 hectares, and 13 houses have been destroyed, said Fernando Clavijo, president of the Canary Islands.
