In the House of Commons during Thursday's question period, Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre questioned what the federal government will do in “the next four days,” before Thanksgiving — when the Liberals said they would deliver a solution — about Canada’s food crisis, so that families can afford to have a turkey on the holiday.

Canadians “can’t eat” what Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s government are offering,” said Poilievre, further quipping citizens can’t put a “photo op” or “code of conduct” on the table.

In response, Innovation Minister François-Philippe Champagne called for Poilievre, and other Conservative MPs to vote on Bill C-56 to help “stabilize” inflationary prices nationwide.

The exchange came shortly after Champagne announced five measures to help combat the country’s high grocery prices, following a recent meeting with the country's top grocery CEOs.
