Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said Monday that Canadian security agencies were investigating “credible” allegations of India’s involvement in the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a B.C. Sikh leader.

“Any involvement of a foreign government in the killing of a Canadian citizen on Canadian soil is an unacceptable violation of our sovereignty,” he said.

Trudeau said he had directly brought up the allegations to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the G20.

Trudeau said he is calling on the Indian government to cooperate with Canada’s investigation into Nijjar’s death.
