As the United States election campaign trail heats up, there are fears our southern neighbour is becoming less attractive to Canadians taking on foreign posts. Personal safety and health care are high on the list of growing concerns.
The union representing Canada's foreign service officers is urging the federal government to take those issues more seriously.
"The security situation in some of these places has deteriorated," Pamela Isfeld of the Professional Association of Foreign Service Officers said.
