Canadian business sectors that have already been going to great lengths to find workers, continue to struggle with staffing as the summer comes to an end.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, many workers faced with child-care issues or safety concerns are relying on government support, or have left the service industry altogether. Compounding the issue is the low immigration rate and the fact that students, who had taken on some of these jobs, will soon head back to school.

Some regions and industries have been hit harder by labour shortages, such as tech, hospitality and healthcare. As Anne Gaviola reports, in some fields it’s a job-seekers market.
