Much of Western Canada has been grappling with a climate-fuelled heat emergency that's brought record shattering temperatures. But much of the Northern Hemisphere is also in the midst of an exceptionally early, hot summer.
From North Africa, to the Arabian Peninsula, to Eastern Europe, maximum daily temperatures have exceeded 45 C in several places, and are even reaching the 50s in the Sahara.
