India is truly in a bind. On one hand, it is a member of the Quad, an alliance of democracies with the US, Japan and Australia, all of which have taken a very tough line on Russia's invasion of Ukraine. On the other hand, India has had a close, time-tested relationship with Russia, on which it depends for military imports. For weeks now, India has avoided taking a stand that explicitly condemns Russia. It has abstained at the UN during votes against Moscow. But is it going to become increasingly difficult for New Delhi to keep up this balancing act?
