At least two people were killed, one of them a toddler, after a massive Pacific storm moved through northern California, bringing high winds, torrential rains and heavy snow to the region.

The storm tore some homes off their foundation, destroyed the Capitola and Sea Cliff piers, and left residents trying to clean up debris.

"It's extensive, especially since this is a small community," Santa Cruz resident Sean Berry said. "You know, we don't have a huge lot of resources for something like that. It's going to take weeks easily, if not months."

The blast of extreme winter weather marked the third and strongest of what's known as an atmospheric river to strike California since early last week. At least two more back-to-back storms are also forecast over the next several days.
