Holding on to Uxbridge and South Ruislip on Friday morning at least gave Rishi Sunak a life jacket to cling to in the by-election wash-up.

Speaking in Nottingham, Labour's leader Sir Keir Starmer said the result in Uxbridge demonstrates "there is never any reason to be complacent."

Sir Keir also reminded fellow Labour politicians that they have to ask themself whether Labour's "priorities are the priorities of working people."
