The United Nations says that more than three million people have been forced to flee their homes this year in central Sahel countries like Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger.
The organisation blames conflict and climate change.
In Burkina Faso, more than 20,000 people have been killed by armed groups.
Others living in shelters in the north-east are struggling to find food, water and medical services.

Al Jazeera’s Catherine Soi reports.
