The UK should just about skirt clear of a technical recession (two successive quarters of contraction), but will do little more than flatline for most of this year, according to the Office for Budget Responsibility.

Household disposable income will not contract by as much as expected but this year and the next will still be the worst for families since at least the 1950s.
